Castleisland Community College is a community of students, staff and parents. We aim to create a warm and caring learning environment in which all our students can achieve their full potential. We value the unique contribution of each individual student in an atmosphere of partnership and shared respect, setting high expectations for each student to achieve his/her full potential, to be creative and to experience curiosity and joy in learning. We provide a nurturing climate in which students can grow and develop academically, socially, culturally, physically and spiritually.
As Principal I offer you my commitment to ensuring that the students in my care are offered the best possible educational experience here in Castleisland Community College. Good schools are built around clear communication, clear student expectations and developing positive relationships amongst all stakeholders and education partners. This is something that I truly believe in as it helps create an inclusive quality learning environment that helps students to grow and mature in a safe, creative and holistic environment that is constantly changing to meet their needs. We offer an educational experience that promotes achievement and excellence in academic attainment in addition to providing a holistic and well-rounded educational experience meeting the diverse needs of the community in a positive learning environment for all of our valued students.
Castleisland Community College is an innovative school drawing on the talents and skills of staff, students and parents to provide a host of educational programmes and projects. Wholesome participation is encouraged in the extensive range of extra-curricular activities on offer to suit all tastes and interests. Care is also taken to ensure the well-being and happiness of each student in the school. We are inclusive in every sense of the word, where the cultural, sporting, academic and other successes of all our students and staff are proudly celebrated together. Our students have a very strong sense of pride in our school, which is demonstrated in their respectful and courteous behaviour towards others, both in school and outside and their willingness to advance and promote our school.
It would not be possible to do my job and run this fantastic school if it were not for all the excellent students who we have here in addition to an excellent cohort of caring, dedicated and hardworking school staff that I have the great privilege of leading and working with to continue to positively develop our wonderful school. Our teachers are renowned for their teaching skills, enthusiasm and dedication to their students in our school. As Principal, I am immensely proud of and impressed by the professionalism, commitment, dedication and teamwork of the staff to ensure an excellent education for all our students in a caring and supportive environment in our state-of-the-art facilities.
As a school and a staff, we value very highly our relationship with our students and our parents and believe that through open honest conversation we can continue to develop and enhance the learning experience for the students in our school.
Parents are invited to participate in the life of the school through the Parents’ Association and various aspects of school life. There is a strong culture of partnership among all members of the school community, which contributes to a dynamic and innovative school. I would like to acknowledge and thank all the members of the wider Community which makes our school a hub of learning – Local Businesses, who provide work experience, field trips and guest speakers, Parents and families, Students Council and the Parents’ Association for their continued support of the school. In addition, the senior management team is fully supported by a highly committed Board of Management and an in-school middle management structure.
