Fourth Ambassador School Award for Castleisland Community College

Castleisland Community College has received its fourth award as an Ambassador School, as part of the Cycle Against Suicide Schools’ Programme.

The student council in the school along with the career guidance counsellor, Juanita Lovett were instrumental in the school receiving this award.

The Ambassador School Programme provides a framework for schools to integrate mental health activities into the school plan.

Well-being Week

It includes activities like Well-being Week, First Year Induction Programme and Mentoring.

The school has undertaken many activities to promote positive well-being for students such as the very successful Cappanalea Outdoor training session last year.

All Junior Cycle students over the course of a week enjoyed a day of orienteering, team building skills and fire camp skills.

Absolutely OK to Ask for Help

The First Year Induction Programme helps first year students to make the transition to secondary school.

Transition Year students are presently undertaking a mentoring programme with Tim Nolan who is the Kerry ETB Well-being Officer.

The School Ambassador Programme promotes the message It’s OK not to feel OK and it’s absolutely OK to ask for help.
